We specialize in farmed animal rescue - the animals most people don't think of when they think of rescue. Animals who come from auctions, neglect, abandonment, or worse. Animals who have never been treated with kindness and don't yet know what it feels like to be safe.
Today, Critterville Farm Sanctuary is home to over 90 permanent residents, including goats, donkeys, chickens, cats, dogs, and rabbits. Each with their own story, their own needs, and their own personality that will make you fall in love.
Every animal at Critterville receives individualized care, top-notch veterinary treatment, and - most importantly - the time and space to just be. We believe in animal-led interaction, in meeting them where they are, and in earning their trust one quiet moment at a time.
From a very young age, Critterville Founder, Claire, always knew she had a special passion for farm animals. At just 11 years old, she brought their first rescues home, three Nigerian Dwarf goats, followed quickly by Luna, a young donkey saved from auction. That first summer changed everything. It became clear that this wasn't just a hobby. It was a calling.
Nine years later, Critterville has rescued and cared for hundreds of animals, built a sanctuary from the ground up in Riverhead, NY, and inspired a growing community of people who believe that farm animals deserve the same love and protection as any other.
When Claire was 4 years old, she wandered away from the party guests and into a pen with a baby goat. Shortly after, three Nigerian Dwarf goats came home, followed quickly by Luna, a young donkey saved from auction. That first summer changed everything. It became clear that this wasn't just a hobby. It was a calling.

Critterville exists because of people who care. Every donation, every shared post, every volunteer hour keeps the hay in the barn and the animals fed, healthy, and loved. Here’s how you can support our residents and mission:
Give directly to the animals' daily care and medical needs.
Send supplies straight from our Amazon Wishlist.
Become a monthly sponsor of a resident you connect with.
Volunteers make the day-to-day care of our animals possible.
